Pamper Lake Highlands is a face-to-face community organization. Before COVID-19 restrictions, our mothers were receiving live, professional instruction, weekly diapers for attending, and personal and professional counseling. Their children were receiving high-quality preschool education and being fed daily.

Virtual Programming To help our families cope, we are continuing our programming via virtual platforms. The families continue to receive essential needs, classes for parents and children, counseling, English as a Second Language (ESL) instruction, and tutoring, all while maintaining physical distancing to promote staying healthy during the COVID-19 crisis.

Weekly Essential Pick-Up We are providing our families with the essential supplies they desperately need in a way that keeps them and the community safe and incorporates appropriate physical distancing. Each mom is assigned a weekly pick-up timeslot, and essentials are placed in her trunk. A masked and gloved PLH team member places her items in her trunk. Items distributed: •Diapers and wipes •Healthy, non-perishable foods •Fresh food •Curriculum packets provided weekly for preschoolers lesson plans and guides in English and Spanish •Preschool supply packs (crayons, Play-Doh, safety scissors, construction paper, activity sheets, manipulatives, etc.) •School supply packs for school-aged children (spiral binders, pens, pencils, etc.) Parenting Classes PLH partners with Methodist Children’s Home (MCH) Family Outreach to provide free weekly virtual parenting classes to our families. Classes are taught via Microsoft Teams video chats and focus on teaching positive coping strategies and trust-based, EQ-focused parenting techniques. Topics include connecting with your child, safe discipline methods, behavioral issues, developmental stages, educational activities, and communication strategies.

Infant/toddler/preschool classes and support videos Once a week, PLH team members present one-hour classes online, live via Zoom, for our infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. These classes follow the Frog Street Curriculum structure, modified for online learning, and focus on developing social and emotional intelligence, honing cognitive and language skills, and incorporating a fun movement and motion element.
